Key Job Elements:
Conduct Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) analyses to ensure contractual compliance
Develop Residual Useful Life (RUL) models for ground combat vehicle components based upon in-service maintenance data and/or high-frequency sensor data
Assist in the development of component specifications
Evaluate the maintenance capability of the suppliers
Establish optimum maintenance strategies as part of the component / system design process
Establish / summarize system reliability, maintainability and logistics parameters
Determine the testing requirements to minimize risk and verify RAM-D contractual compliance
Produce forward-looking system availability and resource burden projections using advanced system modelling and simulation techniques
Conduct Life Cycle Costing analysis (LCC)
Coach and train personnel in the execution of R&M engineering analyses
Provide support to ongoing development of R&M and Logistics capabilities within the Systems Engineering processes
Provide expertise and guidance to the organization to reinforce core competencies in the functions of R&M engineering, LORA, MTA, FMECA, LCC, ILS, statistical testing and Logistics Engineering
Identify process issues and recommend improvements related to the efficiency and quality of logistics data development and documentation
Provide technical editing/advice to the conduct, drafting and development of technical studies in the area of logistics engineering
Seek opportunities to apply expertise to ongoing programs, IR&D efforts, B&P activities and other efforts as required by being a source of technical information on historical trends of our products
Mentor and coach others in logistics as necessary to perform their tasks efficiently. Teach principles of LE to newcomers and others.
Provide guidance for the development of logistics tools, technologies, and technical skills across LE and ED&T
Support ED&T Business objectives as defined and maintain and increase functional competency in area(s) of expertise while keeping abreast of latest developments / tools in the field of Reliability Engineering
Support Business Development activities related to new and emerging opportunities
Position Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Reliability Engineering
Minimum 7-10 years of Reliability and Maintainability Experience
Extensive understanding and experience performing R&M, maintenance and logistics analyses (e.g LCC, FMEA, MTA, LSAR, RBD, FTA, LORA, Sparing, etc.)
Extensive experience estimating residual useful life of components based on survival, covariate survival and accumulated damage models
Knowledge and/or experience in the application of relevant military standards, military equipment usage and doctrine
Strong product knowledge of the LAV or other mobile equipment automotive systems
Experience with B&P development procedures and requirements
Ability to travel (5% Cdn) and (5% US & Int'l) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Restrictions for confined space
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience dealing with customer ILS requirements
Experience with programming languages commonly used in data science applications (Python, R and SQL preferred)
Some knowledge of machine learning and data science processes
Understanding of system availability simulation using techniques such as MCMC, Petri Nets and Agent Based Modelling
Advanced University Degree (PH.D) in Reliability Engineering and Professional Engineer license
System integration experience (design and/or logistics)
Experience with use of LSA techniques and software tools (RCM, SLICWave, FMECA, EDCAS, V-Metric, etc.)
