We have an exciting career opportunity on the CSC Review Team at our Markham location. Reporting to the Manager Risk Review Team, this role plays a meaningful part in supporting both our broker and direct business underwriting teams.
The Senior Underwriter ensures communication is consistent, timely and fair, and offers a valuable service. The Senior Underwriter has a meaningful role in providing outstanding underwriting service, balancing client needs with corporate priorities for profitable growth and perfection in underwriting.

What you’ll do:
Conduct detailed analysis of client documents for Home Inspections and Risk Alerts to improve profitability and long-term success of our portfolio.
Complete Large Loss reviews.
Analyze relevant reports (such as home Inspections, motor vehicle reports, claims reports) to assess risk and claims exposure.
Providing technical support to Underwriters, Agents/Brokers and Claims staff.
Handling referrals from Claims Department as well as post claim underwriting and escalations
Communication with Brokers, Agents, and Underwriters.
Responsible for making or providing recommendations/decisions on process and procedural changes for/in CSC and Direct Channel.
To continually improve their soft skills, underwriters should take part in e-learning courses and gain industry accreditations like CIP or FCIP.
Execute with Perfection – champion collaboration between teams and between underwriting along with other functions (i.e. claims, NPI, infrastructure).
Embed a Systems thinking culture in our team.
What you’ll bring:
6+ years of Personal lines Insurance experience.
CIP, FCIP, CRM designation either completed or in progress.
Strong negotiations skills.
Showcase capability to make outstanding underwriting decisions while considering the legal environment.
Showcase expertise in technical underwriting and analytical skills, emphasizing the ability to assess risks accurately.
The ability to think strategically, champion the brand, and make effective decisions.

Excellent time management skills with aptitude to multi-task and prioritize sensitive deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
