Job Summary:
The Operations Analyst supports strategic sourcing, cost management, supply continuity, and day-to-day manufacturing operations to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and reliable product supply. This role serves as a key liaison between contract manufacturers, suppliers, logistics partners, and internal stakeholders, helping maintain Just-in-Time inventory levels while driving operational excellence and margin optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
Sourcing, Cost Management & Supply Continuity
- Review, challenge, and negotiate proposed price increases, minimum order quantity (MOQ) changes, and commercial terms with Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs).
- Audit supplier invoices, investigate pricing discrepancies, and ensure accurate cost allocation and billing practices.
- Maintain product cost models, margin calculators, and cost-tracking spreadsheets to identify margin risks and support profitability reviews.
- Analyze product margins and provide recommendations on low-margin SKUs for management evaluation.
- Identify, qualify, and onboard backup CMOs, suppliers, and alternative raw materials or components to mitigate supply chain risks.
- Coordinate product testing, documentation, Certificates of Analysis (COAs), and approval processes for alternative materials and suppliers.
- Source and evaluate quotations from multiple CMOs and suppliers to support new product development and product launch initiatives.
- Support vendor performance reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the supply network.
Manufacturing Operations & Logistics Execution
- Manage a portfolio of CMOs by monitoring production schedules, order timelines, and inventory requirements to maintain Just-in-Time inventory levels and prevent stockouts.
- Conduct daily purchase order follow-ups and proactively manage production updates, delays, and issue resolution.
- Serve as the primary operational liaison for contract manufacturers regarding quality concerns, artwork revisions, packaging updates, and invoice-related inquiries.
- Source and negotiate competitive freight and transportation rates with third-party logistics providers (3PLs).
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments of raw materials, components, labels, cartons, and finished goods.
- Complete ERP transactions including receiving, inventory reconciliation, material consumption tracking, and production record updates.
- Monitor open label and packaging orders, ensuring timely approvals and execution of artwork changes.
- Route label and packaging layouts for internal review and design approval.
- Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, physical inventory verification, and weekly operational audits.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Product Development, Finance, Regulatory, and Supply Chain teams to support product availability and operational objectives
- Assist in identifying process improvement opportunities that enhance operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and supplier performance
- Develop reporting and tracking tools to improve visibility into production schedules, inventory levels, costs, and supplier performance metrics
- Support special projects related to sourcing optimization, supply continuity, cost savings, and operational scalability
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in sourcing, supply chain, procurement, manufacturing operations, or inventory management.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and logistics providers is considered an asset.
- Experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG), natural health products, supplements, food manufacturing, or related industries is preferred.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, inventory management software, and Microsoft Excel.
