Position Summary
Reporting to the IT Supervisor, this role is responsible for contributing to the overall strategic vision for Stokes Seeds. The IT Support Specialist is dedicated to ensuring that our computer systems operate reliably, and our network services remain accessible and responsive. This role focuses on providing comprehensive technical support to staff, managing IT infrastructure, and implementing solutions that enhance overall efficiency. By maintaining a secure and stable IT environment, the IT Support Specialist enables our team to have the technical tools and resources they need to succeed, contributing to the seamless operation of our business.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and configure computers and related hardware for new and existing employees
- Purchase computers, peripherals, parts, and IT supplies as required in accordance with Stokes purchasing practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to computers, printers, phones, email, and network connectivity
- Problem solve and perform administrative tasks on our business system (ERP, warehouse)
- Maintain updated knowledge and skills required to troubleshoot routine ERP issues
- Manage security access, including user accounts and permissions
- Plan, implement, and enforce network security policies to protect company data
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive backup strategy and ensure data integrity
- Communicate major technology changes to staff via email announcements
- Write and maintain IT documentation and standard operating procedures
- Propose, plan, and execute IT projects to enhance the company's technology infrastructure
- Monitor IT services for downtime and proactively find solutions to minimize disruptions
- Submit and manage support tickets with external service providers for technical issues
- Write and deploy scripts, queries, and other small code solutions to facilitate problem-solving and automate tasks
Qualifications
- Minimum two-year postsecondary Computer Science, Computer Programmer/Analyst, Computer Engineering, or other related fields OR 3+ years work experience in IT related field.
- Comprehensive knowledge of;
- - networking: routers, switches, firewalls, TCP/IP, VLANs
- - operating systems: Windows desktop, Windows server, Linux
- - hardware: PCs, servers, printers
- Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central considered an asset
- Excellent problem solver
- Strong communication skills
Working Hours
- Full time - Monday to Friday: 8 am to 4:30 pm
- Available to work additional hours as needed
- - On call or scheduled, in office or remote
- - For installing/upgrading/maintaining software and hardware
- - For addressing/resolving urgent IT-related issues that can only be done when no users are logged on to the system
