As a Construction Safety Officer, you'll help ensure a safe and compliant work environment while supporting the day-to-day operations of a busy construction site.

Conduct regular site inspections and monitor ongoing work activities to ensure compliance with company, client, and regulatory safety standards.

Identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, or unsafe work practices and take corrective action when necessary.

Investigate, document, and report incidents, near misses, and safety observations in a timely manner.

Maintain accurate safety records and prepare detailed written reports.

Communicate safety expectations clearly with workers, subcontractors, and site leadership.

Support safety initiatives, orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety programs.

Collaborate closely with project management and field supervision to continuously improve site safety performance.

Assist with general site duties and labour tasks when required to support project operations.

Safely operate hand and power tools in accordance with site procedures.

Review construction drawings and project plans to identify safety considerations and potential risks before work begins.

Valid Construction Safety Officer (CSO) certification.

Valid Occupational First Aid Level 3 (OFA 3) certification.

Minimum 3 years of Construction Safety Officer experience in construction environments.

Experience working on commercial construction projects.

Hands-on construction site experience, including general labour duties.

Ability to safely use hand and power tools.

Understanding of carpentry, framing, and wood-frame construction activities from a safety perspective.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.

Strong communication and report-writing skills.

A professional, proactive, and safety-first mindset.

Experience working on large-scale construction projects with substantial worker volumes.

5+ years of CSO experience.

Background in carpentry, framing, or other construction trades.

Experience on complex commercial, residential, or mixed-use developments.

This position is based on a large-scale redevelopment project with up to 2,000 workers onsite, including residential towers, commercial structures, and extensive parkade construction. You'll work closely with a dedicated safety team, site leadership, and multiple trades to help maintain a strong safety culture across all phases of construction.
The role involves both indoor and outdoor work in active construction environments and requires the consistent use of PPE and adherence to all safety protocols.
