Alex and Oleg met while working as technicians at a European repair shop. Both were
passionate about BMWs, serious about quality, and convinced there was a better way to
run a shop. They wanted to create the workplace they had always looked for
themselves: one where technicians are respected, workmanship matters, and people
have the equipment and support to solve problems properly.
That vision became AutoGermany.
Since opening in 2018, AutoGermany has grown into an eight-hoist European repair
facility with a loyal customer base, modern diagnostic equipment, and a reputation built
on honesty. The shop works exclusively on European vehicles and is preparing for its
next stage of growth.
We are now looking for an experienced Automotive Service Technician. There is room
for either an advanced diagnostic technician or a dependable production technician who
performs high-quality work efficiently. The position, workload, and compensation will be
matched to the capabilities of the person hired.
Work That Makes Use of Your Ability
This is not a shop built around rushing vehicles through the bays or replacing parts until
a problem disappears. AutoGermany wants technicians who think, test, verify, and take
pride in getting the answer right.
The shop services European vehicles exclusively and offers a mix of maintenance,
repair, electrical, drivability, and diagnostic work. Technicians have access to Autel,
Launch, and OEM diagnostic equipment, along with an individual computer at each
workstation.
A typical day may include:
- Diagnosing electrical, drivability, warning-light, and performance concerns
- Completing maintenance and mechanical repairs on European vehicles
- Performing thorough digital vehicle inspections
- Documenting findings clearly for the service team
- Verifying repairs before vehicles are returned to customers
- Communicating with the advisor and other technicians when a job requires
- additional information or support

Difficult diagnostic work is given the attention it deserves. When someone needs
uninterrupted time to work through a complex problem, the owners and team make an
effort to protect that time rather than constantly pulling the technician in different
directions.
A Better Alternative to Traditional Flat Rate
Expected annual earnings range from $75,000-$120,000 CAD.
A solid production technician can realistically expect to earn approximately $75,000-
$85,000 annually. A highly capable European diagnostic technician can earn toward the
upper end of the advertised range.
Compensation includes a dependable hourly rate based on experience and
demonstrated ability, plus an efficiency incentive that rewards production. This provides
the stability of hourly pay while still giving strong technicians an opportunity to increase
their earnings.
The complete pay plan,
including the proposed hourly rate and how the incentive is calculated, will be reviewed
clearly during the interview process.

Both owners understand what it is like to face a difficult diagnosis, work around an
incomplete history, wait for an approval, or need the right information before moving
forward. They remain hands-on, approachable, and open to employee feedback.
In fact, the current technician compensation plan was developed in response to
feedback from the team.
We hold a short meeting each morning to keep communication and workflow on track.
Questions, ideas, and concerns can be brought directly to the owners. Employees are
included in conversations about new ideas and changes that affect the shop.
The company is also intentionally strengthening its systems, accountability, and
teamwork as we grow. The next technician should want to contribute to that progress.
This is a good fit for someone who handles their responsibilities, communicates directly,
and is willing to help when the team needs them.
For the right person, there may also be a future opportunity to grow into a shop foreman
or technical leadership role.

AutoGermany operates Monday through Friday and rarely requires overtime. Extra
hours may occasionally be available, but the normal expectation is that employees can
finish the workday and have time for their lives outside the shop.

What AutoGermany Is Looking For
The right technician will bring:
- An Alberta Journeyperson Certificate, recognized trade certificate, or other
- authorization to perform the required work in Alberta
- Red Seal endorsement preferred
- Professional experience diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicles
- Experience with European vehicles
- Strong diagnostic ability or consistent production skills
- Pride in workmanship and attention to detail
- The ability to document findings clearly
