Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive HSE Advisor to join our team in Fort Sasktatchewan. This role is responsible for supporting and promoting the organization’s health, safety, and environmental programs while ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, company policies, and industry standards. The HSE Advisor will provide guidance to employees and supervisors, support safety training and orientations, assist with incident reporting and investigations, and contribute to continuous improvement of the organization’s safety culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day safety support at the Dow Fort Saskatchewan site.
- Ensure compliance with AlumaSafway, Dow, and applicable OH&S requirements.
- Conduct field safety inspections, observations, and audits.
- Support supervisors and employees with hazard identification and risk assessment.
- Participate in incident investigations and assist with corrective actions.
- Monitor compliance with site-specific safety procedures and requirements.
- Conduct and support safety meetings, toolbox talks, and worker orientations as required.
- Provide coaching and guidance to field personnel and supervision on safe work practices.
- Assist with documentation, reporting, and other site safety requirements.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure AlumaSafway expectations are consistently maintained.
Expected Level of Individual:
Safety Advisor / experienced field Safety professional.
Minimum Qualifications:
- NCSO designation required.
- High school diploma required; post-secondary education in OH&S or related field is an asset.
- OSSA BSO or Energy Safety Canada CSO certification.
- CRST or CRSP preferred.
- Industrial/construction safety experience preferred, particularly experience working in a major industrial facility.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while supporting site supervision and operations.
- Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and standards (OH&S, WHMIS, etc.).
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
Duration:
Initial assignment of 6 weeks or longer, with a strong possibility of transitioning into a permanent position based on performance, operational requirements, and overall fit.
Pay: $55.00-$60.00 per hour
