Director of Planning & Land Development

Our client, a well-established land development company, is seeking a Director of Planning & Land Development to lead its planning team and contribute to the continued growth of the organization. Reporting directly to the Co-CEOs, this is a highly visible leadership role combining planning expertise, team mentorship, complex land development projects, and business development.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary planning and design team
- Manage complex development files from due diligence through municipal approvals
- Oversee Official Plan Amendments, Zoning By-law Amendments, Subdivisions, Site Plans and related applications
- Provide strategic advice on land development and entitlement opportunities
- Coordinate municipalities, consultants, architects, engineers and other stakeholders
- Support OLT matters, public consultations and Council presentations
- Build strong industry and municipal relationships
- Identify new clients, projects and business development opportunities
- Collaborate with senior leadership on growth strategy, project priorities and development feasibility
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Urban Planning, Land Use Planning, Urban Design or related field
- Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation – REQUIRED
- Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) membership – preferred
- 10+ years of progressive planning experience, ideally in land development or consulting
- Strong knowledge of Ontario planning legislation and municipal approval processes
- Proven leadership and team mentorship experience
- Experience managing complex planning approvals and multidisciplinary projects
- Strong client, municipal and stakeholder relationship skills
- Business development mindset and strong communication skills
- Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) experience considered a strong asset
- Valid Class G driver’s licence
