Job Description
Reporting to the Controller, the key to success in this role is to be a mature, responsible, and dedicated self-starter who delivers tasks on time, thrives in a fast-paced environment and pays attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
Support preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements and variance reports in a multi-currency environment
Ensure accurate and timely processing of all subledger transactions, including AP, AR, and Bank Reconciliations
Process bi-weekly payroll
Perform Treasury functions
Support processing of sales invoices
Process Government filings such as GST, PST, WCB
Assist in the preparation of the Company’s business plan, budget and forecasting activities
Analyze performance versus budget and investigate variances as required
Monitor operational expenditures in conjunction with approved budgets
Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management
Report on project profitability to management
Collaborate with operational managers to support overall department goals and objectives while delivering a high level of internal customer service
Develop and maintain internal controls documentation, processes, practices and procedures
Recommend and implement agreed process improvements
Provide year-end support of auditor requirements, which may include research and reconciliations
Perform additional assignments, as directed by the Controller
Maintain confidentiality of organizational information
Qualifications
A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar position
Working towards or possessing a professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) is strongly preferred
Experience in a project based, engineering service industry strongly preferred
Knowledge of standard contract terms, including hourly, lumps sum, not-to-exceed and how they are applied in the billing process
Working knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
Excellent MS Office skills (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
Ability to perform tasks in a multi currency environment
Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Strong communication skills (verbal and written skills)
Positive, self-motivated, self-starter and a positive attitude
Able to maintain confidentiality and ensure security of information
Bilingual in French and English an asset
Experience with integrated enterprise resource planning (“ERP”) systems an asset
