Central Vaughan Animal Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic Veterinary Assistant to join our superstar team!
We are a privately owned animal practice located in Thornhill, serving the community with professionalism and high-quality care.
This is a permanent full-time position. Remuneration is commensurate with experience and includes extended health benefits and excellent staff discounts. New graduates and candidates with animal care backgrounds are encouraged to apply!
Responsibilities:
- Assisting veterinarians and technicians with patient handling and treatments
- Collecting samples and preparing them for diagnostic testing
- Preparing patients for procedures (clipping, surgical site prep, IV catheter assistance, etc.)
- Assisting during surgical procedures and monitoring patients under supervision
- Providing outstanding client service to pet owners
- Coordinating and communicating with team members regarding patient care
- Maintaining accurate medical records and patient charts
- Monitoring hospitalized patients
- Cleaning, organizing, and maintaining equipment and hospital areas
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care environment preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Compassionate, reliable, and eager to learn
- Ability to collaborate with a team and multitask in a fast-paced environment
