Position Summary
The Quality Technician is responsible for supporting quality department activities within the foundry operation to ensure castings meet customer specifications, internal standards, and production requirements. This role assists with inspections, audits, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives while working closely with production, engineering, and maintenance teams.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Inspection & Testing
- Perform in-process and final inspections of castings and related components.
- Conduct dimensional inspections using measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and gauges.
- Inspect castings for visual defects including porosity, cracks, inclusions, misruns, and surface imperfections.
- Verify compliance with customer drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Support destructive and non-destructive testing activities when required.
- Perform Sand testing in Lab.
- Provide help and support in Samples preparation and material testing on need basis.
Production Support
- Work closely with production teams to identify and resolve quality concerns on the floor.
- Assist with containment activities for non-conforming product.
- Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action implementation.
- Support scrap reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor process compliance and standardized work procedures.
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete inspection reports, quality records, and production documentation accurately.
- Maintain calibration records for measuring equipment.
- Assist in tracking quality metrics including scrap, rework, customer complaints, and internal defects.
- Support ISO quality system documentation and audits.
Auditing & Compliance
- Conduct layered process audits and quality checks throughout the facility.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Participate in internal and external audits as required.
- Assist with implementation and maintenance of quality management systems.
Communication & Teamwork
- Communicate quality concerns promptly to supervisors and production personnel.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Maintenance departments to improve product quality.
- Provide support during customer visits and audits when required.
