This Partner opportunity is with an established Markham CPA firm looking for an experienced public accounting leader who can contribute across tax, assurance, client relationships and the wider development of the practice.
You’ll work with privately owned businesses, entrepreneurs and established corporate groups across a broad range of industries, advising clients on everything from year-end reporting and assurance through to complex tax planning, succession, reorganizations and significant business decisions.
But this isn’t simply about inheriting a portfolio.
The firm is looking for someone who can help develop people, improve how work gets done, strengthen client relationships and play a meaningful role in the long-term growth of the practice.

What you’ll be doing:
- Manage and develop senior client relationships across a diverse portfolio
- Advise private corporations, shareholders, partnerships, trusts and high-net-worth clients on complex tax matters
- Lead corporate reorganizations, succession and estate planning engagements
- Provide advice around remuneration planning, loss utilization, safe income and QSBC planning
- Oversee complex corporate and personal tax compliance
- Lead and review audit and review engagements
- Advise clients on accounting, tax and broader business issues rather than simply year-end compliance
- Work closely with other Partners on significant client matters and firm-wide initiatives
- Price and scope engagements while managing profitability and client expectations
- Develop Managers, Senior Managers, accountants and CPA students
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships
- Contribute to business development and the continued growth of the firm
- Help improve systems, automation, workflow and quality-control processes
- Play an active role in the strategic direction of the practice
What they’re looking for:
- CPA
- 10+ years of Canadian public accounting experience
- Previous Partner, Principal or senior leadership experience within a CPA firm
- Strong Canadian corporate tax knowledge
- Experience with complex tax planning for privately owned businesses
- Corporate reorganization experience
- Succession and estate planning exposure
- Strong understanding of owner-manager remuneration and shareholder planning
- Experience managing audit and review engagements
- Strong knowledge of ASPE
- Comfortable managing significant client relationships independently
- Demonstrated experience developing and mentoring accounting professionals
- Commercial mindset with an understanding of engagement economics and practice development
- Interest in technology, automation and improving how a modern CPA practice operates
- Someone who wants to contribute to the firm beyond simply managing their own book of business
