Being part of the operations team, the mine mechanic is responsible of performing various installation, maintenance, inspection, repair and adjustment of machinery and mechanical tools directly on the work site.
- Respect safety standards at all times;
- Certify the safe performance of underground equipment;
- Inspect the various machines for defects and malfunctions;
- Determine the nature of defects and malfunctions to specify the extent of repairs to be made;
- Adjust equipment, repair or replace parts, installations or defective items using hand or power tools;
- Test repaired equipment to ensure that it is working properly and that repairs are compliant;
- Clean and lubricate equipment and perform other routine maintenance;
- Ensure accessories and work tools are in good working order;
- Complete the work card to communicate the work done at the end of the shift and submit it to his foreman;
- Keep the work area clean;
- Any other related tasks.
- Be an accredited Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic OR hold 3 years of experience in a similar role;
- Underground hard rock common core in Ontario;
- Hold a valid explosive license;
- Hold a high school diploma or other equivalent degree;
- Fluent in English is required.
