We are a fast-growing company based out of Stony Plain, with work across Western Canada, and we are currently looking to add an experienced Mark IV Tamper Operator to our team.
Position Overview
The Mark IV Tamper Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of tamper equipment in railway surfacing operations. This role plays a key part in achieving production targets, maintaining track quality, and supporting overall crew performance.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical ability, leadership in the field, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Mark IV Tamper equipment in railway environments
- Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance of equipment
- Ensure proper track alignment, surfacing, and compaction to specification
- Work closely with surfacing crews to meet production and quality targets
- Maintain constant awareness of surroundings and safety conditions
- Follow all company, railway, and site-specific safety procedures
- Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors
- Report incidents, equipment issues, and safety concerns promptly
- Provide input to improve workflow, efficiency, and turnaround times
- Maintain cleanliness and care of equipment (interior and exterior)
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year experience operating a Mark IV Tamper
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (clean abstract required)
- Ability to pass CROR (Canadian Rail Operating Rules)
- Fit for duty (criminal record check and drug/fitness screening)
- Ability to work scheduled shifts, travel, and adapt to varying work locations
- Must supply 8” steel toe work boots
