Overview:
The primary responsibility of this position is to operate chemical processes and equipment correctly, while meeting production goals and expectations on a consistent basis, and maintaining compliance of Environmental, Health & Safety Standards.
Your role and responsibilities:
- To operate chemical processes and equipment correctly, while meeting production goals and expectations on a consistent basis, and maintaining compliance of Environmental, Health & Safety Standards.
- Must follow SOP’s/POP’s and all other procedures in every detail, including safety policies.
- Participate in end of shift turnovers with ability to effectively communicate.
- Ability to wear required PPE including respirators.
- Must operate equipment (for example, pumps, filter presses, reactors, valves, pH probes, ovens, forklifts, etc.) in a reasonable and self-sustaining manner.
- Supports the operations, maintenance, and laboratory teams to ensure process stability and consistency, and product quality

- Responsible for understanding basic chemical reactions and properties of chemicals within the work area.
- Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations, standards, and best practices
- Responsible for carrying out simple laboratory experiments such as titrations, liquid-liquid extraction, chemical leaching etc.
What is required for this role:
- Diploma in Chemical or Process Engineering.
- 1 to 3 years experience in basic chemical operations or related experience required.
- Work week: 10 hours by four days per week.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and convert calculations to percentage and to metric system.
- Understand concepts involving statistics, probabilities and formula manipulations and perform basic calculations on volume, mass, atomic percentages, weight percentages, density, molecular weight of alloys and compounds and charge weights.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job, include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Able to successfully complete a background check, pre-placement physical exam and drug screen.
