General: Reporting to the Director of Detox, the Unit Clerk ensures clients in their recovery progress consistent with the philosophy and intent of Aurora Recovery Centre (ARC).
- Perform receptionist/clerical duties in the detox unit.
- Set up records for new clients and prepare for new arrivals.
- Ensure clients' medical information is entered correctly into electronic charting.
- Enter all collateral, labs, consults, referrals pertaining to patients.
- Prepare requisition forms for laboratory tests/ bloodwork
- Record clients information on the appropriate medical forms
- Process client's insurance information for the business office,
- Answer telephones and direct calls to all staff and relay messages to appropriate areas.
- Checking and making a list of inventory supplies; maintaining office equipment, replacement supplies as needed. Supervisor will approve the order.
- Stock office supplies as needed.
- Transcribe MD/NP orders from clients records; copy information. Example: labs, diagnostics
- Assist with the intake procedure
- Collect and enter UDS information.
- Maintain and record dates on board example: Appointments follow-ups, LOA letters.
- Book appointments/transportation Example: Medical, Dental, Vaccines
- Maintaining cleanliness and sanitary to the unit.
- Assist NP/MD when on site
- Retrieve clients on the community side; Clinics / Appointments / as directed.
- Type letters and send them to the appropriate people.
- Ensure clients are safe and comfortable.
- Drop off bloodwork / specimens for diagnostics
- Pharmacy pick ups if needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Ward Clerk Certification from a recognized educational institute or equivalent.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written communication

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Must be in good physical and mental health. May encounter aggressive and/or agitated Patients/visitors/staff. May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, and physical and emotional stress. May be occasionally required to work extended hours. May be required to work evening and weekend shifts.
