At More Than a Roof, we provide affordable housing and support for seniors in our community.
We are looking for volunteer barbers and hairstylists to provide free haircuts at a community wellness event. Depending on how many barbers/hairstylists sign up, we may organize a clinic hair cut event or if there are only a couple, we may prioritize unit bound tenants or tenants with neglect or mobility problems.
Many of the seniors we support live on low incomes and face barriers such as limited mobility, anxiety about leaving home, addiction, or challenges with self-care. Something as simple as a haircut can have a tremendous impact - it can restore confidence, dignity, and help someone feel seen and cared for.
We're hoping to create a welcoming day where residents can connect with others and experience the support of their community. Your generosity would make a meaningful difference and leave a lasting impact on the lives of our seniors.
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Provide basic haircuts for senior residents.
- Create a friendly, welcoming, and respectful experience.
- Help residents feel comfortable throughout their appointment.
- Follow safe and hygienic barbering/hairstyling practices.
- Bring your own tools if possible (please let us know if this is a barrier).
