Overview
Join a compassionate, single-family household as a Full‑Time Support Worker providing dedicated, one‑on‑one support to an adult in her 40s who uses a power wheelchair and communicates through AAC and low‑tech boards. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by fostering independence, ensuring safety, and supporting daily routines within an accessible home located in serene Bolsover, ON, along the Trent Waterway.
This live-in position offers a private furnished bedroom and shared home amenities in a scent-free and smoke-free environment. The household values confidentiality, positivity, humor, and a supportive team environment.
Duties
- Assist with daily living activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and morning routines
- Support safe lifts, transfers, ambulation, and range‑of‑motion exercises
- Provide mobility assistance and ensure safety within an accessible home environment
- Prepare meals and assist with meal planning
- Perform housekeeping tasks such as laundry, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, and dishwashing
- Accompany the client and assist with warm water therapy under the direction of and guided by the physiotherapist
- Plan and accompany the client on community outings (e.g. grocery shopping, library)
- Plan and accompany the client on visits, outings, and trips to neighbours, friends, and family
- Offer companionship and maintain a positive, engaging environment
- Support communication using AAC devices and low‑tech communication boards
- Monitor well‑being and report changes as needed to designated family members
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time: Monday–Friday, 30–40 hours per week
- $25/hour (reviewed annually), with consideration for education and experience
- Statutory holidays: time off or time and a half pay if worked
- 3 paid sick days per year
- 2 weeks paid vacation per year
- Desired start date: Immediate
- Additional overnight on‑call shift (9:00 pm onward); flat rate $60/night
- Paid bi‑weekly; signed employment contracts

Experience
- Background in health care, PSW work, or caregiving strongly preferred
- Experience supporting individuals with speech impairments, visual impairments, or mobility challenges
- Familiarity with AAC communication is an asset
- Ability to perform physical tasks safely, including transfers and positioning
- Strong communication skills, patience, and a positive, humorous outlook
- Must be comfortable working in an family-oriented household

- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for use during time off
