Job Overview
I am seeking a patient and dedicated Private Tutor specializing in Computer Programming to support my son who is enrolled in the Computer Programming and Analysis Program at Seneca Polytechnic Institute. My son has a learning disability with respect to understanding instructions and ADHD which interferes with his ability to get tasks started and completing tasks/meeting deadlines. He has been having more success recently with a peer tutor from his college who has now graduated. He would like a tutor to meet with more frequently and more regularly for his Fall Semester, and other future semesters.
Responsibilities
- Deliver personalized tutoring sessions focused on program and course specific tasks over the semester (and future semesters)
- Examples of classes include Software Testing, Database Systems 3, Web Programming, Systems Design, C++
- Reliability with respect to set meeting days/times
- Assist student with further understanding core course concepts.
- Support student with a commitment to help complete assignments, projects, and prepare presentations on time within the semester courses, +/- prepare for tests/exams
- Incorporate interactive teaching methods to enhance engagement and comprehension during sessions
- Providing constructive feedback and adjusting instructional strategies as needed
Experience
- Some experience or interest in working with young adults in educational or tutoring settings
- Strong background in computer programming topics (Data base systems, C++, Software testing, Web Principles etc.)
- Bonus if happen to be a senior student in, or graduate of, the Computer Programming (and Analysis Program) from Seneca Polytechnic Institute.
- Experience in special education or working with students who have diverse learning needs is a plus but not necessary as long as patient and understanding.
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
