Under the Direction of the Senior Vice-President, Actuarial and Risk Management, the AVP or VP Actuarial will manage the Reserving function for both Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada (MRoC) and Temple Insurance Company (Temple).

Your job

Perform a quarterly reserving process for both MRoC and Temple
Align local reserving processes with Munich Re Group-wide processes
Support Group financial reporting through quarterly reporting to Central Reserving using Group standard tools
Actively communicate with claims re: large loss activity
Maintain large loss database and analysis
Work closely with finance on quarterly results, analysis and reporting
Communicate with management and underwriting re: analysis of trends/results on a quarterly basis or as requested
Annual planning and quarterly forecasting with Finance
Support the Appointed Actuary role and responsibilities
Assist in Risk Management with retro process and capital modelling
Actively participate in the local and Global IFRS17 Project
Quarterly reserving analysis for Munich Re America, Canadian Branch
Manage reserving staff including performance management, training and mentoring
Ensure good collaboration as well as timely and quality actuarial support
Maintain relationships with key stakeholders within Finance, Claims, Risk Management, Underwriting and Pricing in Toronto as well as Central Reserving and Retro Department in Munich
Your profile

Completed Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Sciences or other related fields
Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) and Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS)
10 to 15+ years of P&C actuarial work experience; experience with reserving and financial forecasting preferred
Leadership qualities and abilities, with experience in developing a positive team environment
Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills across all levels of the organization
Ability to work cross-functionally to achieve results under tight deadlines
Proven business acumen and problem solving skills
Strong organizational skills; with the ability to analyze current processes and procedures while recommending and implementing necessary improvements
Sound analytical and integrative skills
