Job Title: Buildings Monitoring Assistant
Job Type: 6-month contract, start date ASAP
Hours: 5 days per week (variable schedule), approximately 3–4 hours/day. Weekend work may
be required as needed.
Wage: $23/hr + Taxable vehicle allowance for the use of a personal vehicle

Ignatius Jesuit Centre (IJC), located just north of Guelph, Ontario, is a spiritual, ecological, and
community hub rooted in the rich tradition of Ignatian spirituality. Our 640-acre property includes the
Centre for Integral Ecology, Ignatius Farm, and an extensive network of trails and naturalized land. These

Position Overview
The Ignatius Jesuit Centre includes multiple buildings and regulated water systems that support our
programs, staff, and community. Ensuring these facilities remain safe, secure, and operating effectively
requires consistent daily monitoring and attention.
The Buildings Monitoring Assistant participates in the daily operation of the site by conducting routine
building inspections, monitoring regulated water systems, recording operational data, and identifying
maintenance concerns before they become larger issues.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, appreciates routine and attention

Responsibilities
Water-related Operations
? Visit multiple buildings across the Ignatius Jesuit Centre campus each day.
? Record water meter readings and other operational data.
? Monitor regulated water treatment systems and complete daily water quality testing in
accordance with regulatory requirements.
? Maintain accurate records and report irregularities or concerns promptly to the Buildings
Manager or designate
Building Monitoring & Security
? Conduct daily building inspections to ensure facilities are secure and operating properly.
? Inspect windows, doors, locks, and lighting.
? Monitor boilers, pumps, and other key building systems.
? Identify and report maintenance concerns or unusual activity.
? Escalate urgent issues promptly to the Buildings Manager or designate
General Support
? Assist with other Buildings-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is dependable, observant, and takes pride in doing important work
well. The successful candidate will enjoy working independently while contributing to a collaborative
Buildings team.
? Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently.
? Detail-oriented with the ability to recognize when something is out of the ordinary.
? Able to accurately record information and follow established procedures.
? Good communication skills and sound judgment.
? Valid Ontario driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
? Willingness to complete Safe Drinking Water certification (training provided).
? Experience with commercial buildings, facilities, or maintenance is an asset.
? Police check required.
