Profile
Reporting to the Manager, Application Development, and engaging across all services delivered by De Havilland Information Technology, we are looking for a dynamic and open-minded individual to join us as a Systems Administrator. You will be part of a team working to support and enable capabilities for teams across De Havilland.
The role requires strong written and verbal communication skills, reporting skills, and coordination skills. As the Systems Administrator, your main role will be supporting, maintaining, and administrating in-house and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications and integrations for business capabilities. Alongside support responsibilities, you will also be responsible for assisting in the administration of Oracle and MS SQL database servers and the data that resides within them.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide application and systems integration technical support by investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving operational functionality related issues.
- Analyze system issues or failures, provide root cause analysis, and when required implement corrective actions through administration of COTS applications or system integration modifications.
- Work with vendor providers to troubleshoot and recommend corrective measures to identified issues and then coordinate those corrections with business end users.
- Manage application and integration updates and ensure proper testing, documentation, and communications.
- Configure and test system integrations based on De Havilland best practices and specifications.
- Create and maintain system documentation as required.
- Assist in administering Oracle, MS SQL, and some Postgres database servers and the data contained within them.
- Responsible for maintaining the integrity and availability of the business data while stored in information systems.
- Responsible for supporting the achievement of Service Level Expectations (SLE) for supported applications and integrations.
- Act as a technical stakeholder to business process owners and specialists, aiding them in their decision making and building their trust and confidence.
- Support business demand pipeline and provide solutions to the business that provide maximum value and at the same time aligned with Business and IT goals and strategy.
- Assist in implementation of new or enhanced functionality, including requirements gathering and development of support processes.
- Act as second/third line support and carry out incident, change, and problem management.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology (IT), or related field.
- ITIL and/or Database/SQL certification will be an asset.
Skills
- 5+ years of experience supporting, optimizing, and administrating enterprise level applications, system integrations, and data sets.
- 3+ years of experience administrating Oracle and MS SQL Database servers.
- Willing to take a business focused, holistic approach to delivering operations.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- A self-starter with the creativity to solve problems independently.
- Ability to build effective relationships with a range of team members, stakeholders, partners, vendors, and business users.
- Displays a sense of ownership and exhibits flexibility, resilience, and resourcefulness.
- Experience with incident and problem management lifecycles.
- Experience with Windows, Linux, and Unix environments.
- Working knowledge and experience with PowerApps and PowerBI reporting services.
- Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps.
- Demonstrated strong problem solving, analytical skills, and strategic thinking.
- Demonstrated experience in developing reports and conducting data analysis.
- Willingness to learn new technologies when required.

- Occasional travel within Canada may be required < 10%.
