The Opportunity
Marid Industries Limited is seeking an experienced Wheel Loader Operator to join our team at our Windsor Junction facility.
The successful candidate will operate wheel loaders and other material-handling equipment to safely and efficiently move structural steel, fabricated components and other materials throughout the yard. The position will also support loading and unloading, material coordination, shipping and receiving, trailer movement and general yard operations as required.

What you'll do
Responsibilities
Operate wheel loaders to move, load, unload and organize steel plate, beams, pipe, structural components and fabricated assemblies.
Move and position structural steel and fabricated components throughout designated yard, storage and production areas using a wheel loader.
Load and unload trucks and trailers and handle heavy, oversized and irregularly shaped materials.
Organize and coordinate material movement between receiving, storage, yard and shipping areas.
Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment as required for loading, unloading and movement of materials throughout the yard.
Operate a yard shunt truck as required to move and position trailers within the yard and designated loading and unloading areas.
Operate authorized company vehicles as required to support material and equipment movement.
Use computerized inventory, material-tracking and fabrication-management systems to identify, locate and coordinate materials.
Complete shipping and receiving documentation, including packing slips, bills of lading and other material-movement records as required.
Verify incoming and outgoing materials against shipping documentation and address any discrepancies.
Coordinate and stage materials for scheduled pickups, deliveries and outgoing shipments.
Conduct inventory counts and reconcile physical material quantities with shipping and receiving records.
Move scrap steel, offcuts and other materials to designated storage or recycling areas.
Perform routine pre-use equipment checks and report equipment issues or damage to the appropriate department.
Assist with snow removal and other heavy-equipment yard operations as required.
Follow all applicable workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment around heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, cranes and active yard operations.
What you'll need
Qualifications
Minimum six (6) months of previous experience operating a wheel loader or comparable heavy equipment.
Valid Nova Scotia Class 1 Driver's Licence.
Previous forklift and industrial material-handling experience.
Experience operating a yard shunt truck and positioning trailers.
Experience working with trucks, trailers and loading/unloading operations.
Experience with shipping and receiving in an industrial environment.
Experience using computerized inventory, material-tracking, production or fabrication-management software.
Experience handling structural steel, fabricated components, heavy or irregularly shaped materials.
Valid Fall Protection Safety Training certification.
Valid Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Operator Safety Training certification.
Ability to work effectively around heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, cranes and active yard operations.

Working Conditions
This position involves working in an active industrial yard environment and requires regular operation of heavy equipment, loading and unloading of materials, movement of structural steel and other heavy materials, and working around trucks, trailers, cranes and other equipment.
The successful candidate must be able to work safely and effectively in these conditions and follow all company health and safety requirements.
