Building Maintenance SpecialistJob Summary
We are looking for a Building Maintenance Specialist who is truly a jack of all trades and is comfortable taking on a variety of cleaning, maintenance, delivery, and service-related responsibilities.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys variety and can confidently work both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities will include Carpet Cleaning, Stripping and waxing floors, Power washing, completing small contractor and handyman jobs, responding to service complaints, installing dispensers, assisting with large cleaning projects, and performing regular window cleaning throughout the local area and Southern Ontario.
A company van/truck will be provided for work-related jobs, so a clean driving record and a valid G driver's licence and the ability to drive truck and trailer are required.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete small contractor and handyman jobs, including:
- Installing soap, paper towel, toilet paper, sanitizer, and other dispensers.
- Patching and painting walls.
- Completing minor building repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Operate floor machines and complete floor care projects, including stripping, waxing, buffing, and refinishing floors.
- Perform carpet cleaning and carpet extraction.
- Complete monthly window cleaning at local properties and throughout Southern Ontario.
- Assist with large-scale cleaning and floor-care projects.
- Investigate and respond to customer service complaints and building maintenance concerns.
- Attend customer locations to assess and address maintenance or cleaning issues.
- Assist with emergency cleaning or maintenance situations when required.
- Safely operate company vehicles(truck and trailer), cleaning equipment, floor machines, ladders, and basic hand tools.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance while representing the company.
- Complete work independently while communicating effectively with management and team members.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures and applicable workplace regulations.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience in several of the following areas:
- Window cleaning experience
- Experience operating floor machines.
- Experience stripping, waxing, buffing, and refinishing floors.
- Carpet cleaning experience, including the use of carpet extraction equipment.
- Basic commercial cleaning and janitorial experience.
- Basic handyman skills, including installing dispensers, patching walls, painting, and completing minor repairs.
- Lead Hand or supervisory experience is an asset.
- Experience working independently at customer locations.
- Experience working on larger commercial cleaning projects is an asset.
*Experience is an asset but not required. Will provide training to someone willing to learn.*
Mandatory Qualifications
- Valid Ontario G Driver's License
- Clean driver's abstract
- Clean criminal record check (vulnerable sector check may be required)
- WHMIS training
- Ability to safely operate a company vehicle and travel to customer locations.
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Willingness to be on call occasionally, with minimal on-call requirements.
- Willingness and ability to respond to emergencies within a short timeframe when required.
