Position Overview
Electrical team members at THM play a key role in supporting industrial construction, maintenance, upgrades, commissioning, and project execution. These roles may involve working on electrical installations, terminations, testing, troubleshooting, inspections, documentation, and field coordination depending on the position.
Successful candidates will be safety-focused, reliable, and committed to high-quality workmanship. Whether supporting sustaining work in an active brownfield facility or contributing to capital projects in greenfield environments, THM electrical professionals are expected to take pride in their work and help deliver proven results.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Foremen may be responsible for:
- Leading electrical crews in the safe and efficient execution of field work
- Coordinating daily work plans, manpower, tools, materials, permits, and work fronts
- Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, work packages, and project documentation
- Supporting electrical installations, cable pulling, cable tray, conduit, terminations, equipment hookups, testing, and commissioning activities
- Working closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, QA/QC, client representatives, and other trades
- Monitoring productivity, quality, safety, and schedule performance
- Identifying field issues and helping resolve them quickly and practically
- Providing hands-on leadership and working directly with crews when needed to get the job done
- Supporting sustaining and capital project work across both brownfield and greenfield environments
Electrical QA/QC may be responsible for:
- Supporting quality control activities for electrical construction, maintenance, and project execution
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, codes, standards, inspection test plans, and project requirements
- Performing inspections and verifying electrical work is completed to project and quality standards
- Supporting testing and documentation, including continuity checks, insulation resistance testing, torque verification, equipment checks, punch lists, turnover packages, and redline support as required
- Working with field leadership to identify deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are completed
- Maintaining accurate QA/QC records, inspection reports, and turnover documentation
- Coordinating with clients, project teams, and field crews to support efficient project closeout
- Helping ensure electrical work meets THM’s expectations for safety, quality, and professional execution
- Supporting both sustaining work and capital projects in brownfield and greenfield environments
Journeymen Electrical Techs may be responsible for:
- Performing industrial electrical installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair work
- Installing and terminating cables, conduit, cable tray, panels, electrical equipment, devices, and associated systems
- Reading and working from drawings, schematics, specifications, and work packages
- Supporting commissioning, start-up, maintenance, and project execution activities
- Working safely in active operating facilities and new construction environments
- Assisting with testing, inspections, deficiency repairs, and project turnover requirements
- Supporting Foremen and field leadership to complete work safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
- Mentoring apprentices and contributing to a strong team environment
- Delivering quality workmanship on sustaining and capital projects
Electrical Apprentices may be responsible for:
- Assisting Journeymen Electrical Techs and Foremen with electrical installation, maintenance, and project work
- Supporting cable pulling, material handling, conduit, cable tray, terminations, equipment installation, testing preparation, and general field tasks
- Learning to read drawings, follow work packages, and understand project requirements
- Maintaining tools, materials, work areas, and housekeeping standards
- Following safe work practices and site procedures at all times
- Taking direction from Journeymen, Foremen, and Superintendents
- Building hands-on experience in industrial electrical work across sustaining and capital projects
- Developing skills in both brownfield operating facilities and greenfield construction environments
Qualifications
- Previous industrial electrical experience is considered an asset
- Valid electrical trade certification, apprenticeship registration, or relevant technical training based on the role
- Experience in construction, maintenance, commissioning, shutdowns, turnarounds, or project execution is considered an asset
- Ability to work safely in industrial environments, including active operating facilities
- Ability to support new construction and capital project work in greenfield environments
- Strong understanding of safety, quality, productivity, and teamwork
- Ability to read drawings, specifications, schematics, or work packages as required by the role
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Valid safety tickets, site access requirements, or additional certifications are considered assets
- Willingness to travel or work project-based schedules as required
- For leadership roles, demonstrated ability to lead crews, coordinate work, and support hands-on execution in the field
