Work Description
The Applications and Training Specialist is responsible for delivering 1st tier user support and facilitating training to The Taggart Group of Companies internal staff on corporate systems. The role directly supports the day-to-day operational functions of the business and requires the ability to communicate with end users, from office staff to field staff. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical and functional problem-solving skills with a keen business sense to deliver high quality customer service support.
Major Responsibilities:
Provide 1st tier application support for incoming queries and issues from employees related to the existing and new business applications.
Prepare, coordinate and lead application training sessions and the creation of supporting training documentation for all end-users.
Assist with development and maintenance of custom configurations in various business critical applications.
Regularly coordinate with departments to ensure support, as well as prepare technical reports, and review/revise training materials and documentation for end users.
Provide input on information technology, practices, policies, and procedures related to implementing new business applications or enhancements to current applications.
Assist with writing and disseminating regular IT updates to end users about upcoming changes.
Assist with the regular maintenance and revisions of the IT Training site.
Assist with system check and quality assurance for various applications.
Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure processes and technical solutions are effectively integrated and optimized.
Proactively seek opportunities to educate users on new application features.
Participate in various application projects, and other ad-hoc projects as needed.
Assist with the research of new technologies and best practices to improve business solutions, systems and processes.
Other duties as required.
Statement of Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Post-secondary education in Information Technology or a related field is a strong asset. This might include information system management or project management.
Minimum of three to five years of practical experience in the information technology field working on various applications. Experience with projects would be considered an asset.
Experience in a desk side support, technical support or in a training role would be considered a strong asset.
Sound knowledge of Microsoft 365 environment, with Sharepoint experience being an asset.
Ability to quickly ramp up with new applications and technologies.
Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) Tools and database languages would be an asset
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, including the ability to present training sessions to large and small groups of people.
Experience designing, developing and executing training sessions for audiences with different levels of technical proficiency and different learning styles would be a strong asset, both in person and virtually.
Strong analytical skills and experience implementing applications.
Experience with ERP and/or CRM systems would be considered a strong asset.
Experience in the construction industry would be considered an asset.
Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize work tasks.
Strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills with the ability to build working relationships.
Ability to work independently and maintain discretion with user’s personal information.
A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle would be considered an asset for the purposes of visit job sites.
Physical/Sensory Effort/Work Environment:
Busy, and at times, a loud work environment. Visiting construction sites and residential developments as needed.
Providing service to several people, companies or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines, working for a group of companies.
Overtime may be required.
