Nisku, Alberta based private Oil & Gas service and distribution company seeks an experienced Senior Accountant on a permanent full time basis. We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. In this pivotal role, you will lead financial reporting processes, and support strategic decision-making through thorough analysis and reporting.
Who You Are:
- 5+ years of progressive full cycle accounting experience
- Ideally within a distribution or product sales company
- 2 years inventory accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field would be an asset
- Proficiency with SAGE 50 accounting software and experience with inventory management software
- Advanced Excel skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.
- Ability to work on your own and in a team setting with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
The role:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Manage full-cycle accounting including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable reconciliations and bank reconciliations
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Record Capital Asset purchases and related amortization
- Oversee inventory accounting for all product items
- Ensure compliance with GST/PST filings, payroll remittances, and other statutory requirements
- Support external accountants
- Assist with cash flow forecasting and working capital management
- Mentor and provide guidance to other accounting staff
- Provide cover for other accounting staff in their absence
- Assist with other accounting areas of the business on an as needed basis
