About the Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, as a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for designing the mechanical system to meet customer requirements. Additionally, you will provide all necessary detailed design documents to our Manufacturing team, so that the design can be brought to life!
Your Responsibilities - What a typical day looks like
● Thoroughly review project specifications, encompassing requirements and timelines.
● Utilize Solidworks to develop mechanical designs based on project specifications.
● Prepare comprehensive design review documents and actively participate in customer review meetings
● Develop drawings with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles
● Generate detailed bill of materials (BOM) using MiniMRP software
● Gather quotes from suppliers for required parts and generate purchase orders accordingly
● Provide troubleshooting support to Manufacturing/Field Service technicians as needed
● Communicate project progress via designated channels such as Asana and email
● Create BOM, cutlist and Pack and Go to be used by the Manufacturing team
● Document spare parts list for future reference and inventory management
● Perform quality check on received parts from machining centers to ensure adherence to standards
● Conduct final BOM and model check against actual build before shipping to ensure accuracy
Required Qualifications - What you bring to the table- What you need to succeed
● Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, or equivalent skills and experience in Mechanical Engineering
● Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor)
● Knowledge and experience working with GD&T
● Knowledge of engineering principles and concepts (mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics)
● Knowledge of safety requirements and standards (e.g. OSHA, ISO 12100)
● Understanding of ergonomics and human factors principles
● Experience with design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and products
● Both on-equipment and remote mechanical troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications
● Professional Engineer (PE) license or working towards it
● Certifications in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing
● Experience in the automotive industry
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $30.00-$45.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
