Manager, Trade Compliance
The Manager, Global Trade Compliance is responsible for maintaining compliance to all necessary government regulations while importing and exporting goods in the most efficient manner possible. The Manager ensures the expeditious flow of goods across country borders to support supply chain requirements and company growth. This individual serves as the primary point of contact and authority for internal/external inquiries concerning global trade or customs compliance in Canada. In addition, the Manager will help develop Entrust Datacard’s global import/export strategies and provide operational leadership to the CA Logistic team. This person is responsible for conducting internal compliance audits, maintaining trade SOPs and coordinating training. The position will perform the responsibilities detailed below and other duties as assigned.

Perform general management responsibilities such as hiring, performance management, performance reviews, individual development activities, etc. of team
Manage the fulfillment of commercial software and process license renewals as necessary
Provide necessary work direction and manage projects effectively through planning, organization and project management
Complete training of trade compliance regulations to internal partners.
Provide expert advice and guidance concerning the requirements and obligations for handling export-controlled software, items and technology under applicable laws and regulations.
Able to keep up to date on Wassenaar arrangement and Canadian Trade Regulation changes and to update controls and processes to match updates
Ensure the Business adheres to all relevant export control regimes and sanctions and represent the best interest of Entrust Datacard in conducting import and export transactions.
Continuously review/validate HTS and ECCN classifications that are utilized by Entrust Datacard Canada.
Develop performance metrics for Trade Compliance and Import/Export Operations
Manage the application process for import/export licenses, permits and other requests for authorization.
Identify relevant export/import compliance imperatives applicable to our company’s software, hardware and people.
Collaborates with global Trade Compliance team members on trade compliance issues.
Manage completion of Export/Import documentation.
Manage relationship with custom brokers, freight forwarders and manage broker SOP’s and performance.
Liaison with CBSA, CA Global Affairs and any other government agencies to resolve export/import issues as they arise.
Lead other trade compliance, logistics, and other job-related tasks as they arise.
Engage with Regional VP’s and Senior Sales staff to integrate Trade Compliance into Entrust Datacard’s international business.
Ability to apply trade compliance knowledge and experience to complex issues with minimal need for external resources.
Detail orientated with excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment.
Demonstrated ability to engage with internal technical engineers on issue resolution and to have expert understanding of software encryption.
Manage, mentoring and developing of teams.
Experience achieving objectives working in a global matrix organization
Minimum of 5-8 years of trade compliance experience with 3 years of encryption control experience
Comprehensive knowledge of trade compliance regulations and requirements
University Degree in a related field
Ability to utilize data analytics and turn into actionable strategy
Experience with ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
Advanced Microsoft Excel or other data analytic tools
Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation or Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) designation
