Context & Background
KPMG’s Global Head of Independence role has been expanded to include Ethics.
The Ethics aspects of the expanded role is accountable for developing and supervising the Ethics of the Firm, providing leadership and expert advice in the development, explanation and execution of ethics, and ensure compliance with the related policies.
Role Summary
The Director of Global Ethics is a high-profile critical new role created to support the role expansion of KPMG’s Global Head of Independence.
The Director – Global Ethics role reports to and works closely with the KPMG’s Global Head of Independence and Ethics and the Ethics Leaders in the Member Firms. The role will entail significant interaction with numerous senior stakeholders.
The role comprises an exciting combination of developing “business as usual” Ethics processes and reporting, and leading/supporting on significant project work. The nature of the work is high profile and will provide opportunities to interact with the most senior levels of leadership in the global firm and help shape and support the Global Ethics Strategy.
The responsibilities of the Director of Global Ethics include, but are not limited to, the following:
Support the Global Head of Independence and Ethics in his/her execution of responsibilities related to Ethics
Liaise with Ethics Leaders or Champions in member firms
Support the development and cascading of ethics statements and supporting policies and processes
Integrate the ethics messaging throughout the network
Identify training opportunities and support the development of training
Identify potential areas of risk with laws, regulation, unethical or improper conduct
Provide an internal review of policies to ensure consistency and integration with the KPMG’s ethics philosophies
Support and contribute to relevant policy development
Assist the Global Head of Independence and Ethics in providing advice to leadership on compliance and ethics matters
Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge and understanding of Firm governance requirements, compliance and reporting responsibilities.
Assist IOGC on KPMG hotline matters.
Promote heightened awareness of the Code of Conduct and Ethics Policies and promote an understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures.

What you bring to this role:
Technical Skills & Qualifications
12+ years of experience, with at least 5 years in Risk Management and/or Ethics, preferably in a professional services environment
Experience of leading change projects
Ability to manage and influence relationships with key stakeholders
Strong decision-making skills, including taking into account a wide set of senior views
Ability to provide confident advice and insight on strategic direction
Confidently communicate leadership messages to wider audiences
Strike the right balance of taking own decisions and knowing when to consult
Ability to lead and drive multiple projects and influence outcomes in challenging situations
Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills

CPA or JD, preferred
