We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Buyer to support our die and mold machining operations. This role is responsible for global sourcing of steel and tooling, managing supplier relationships, controlling inventory levels, and ensuring cost-effective and timely procurement of materials critical to production. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in manufacturing procurement, preferably within a CAD/CAM/CNC environment, and a solid understanding of supply chain best practices in a high-precision machining setting.

Source steel and related materials on a global scale to ensure cost-effective and reliable supply

Monitor contract compliance with steel suppliers and major tooling vendors

Manage and reduce excess inventory to improve cash flow efficiency

Implement and maintain a Total Inventory Management system at the Markham plant

Negotiate pricing and terms with both existing and new suppliers to secure optimal market value

Monitor and follow up on all back orders using effective ERP-based tracking systems to ensure timely delivery to the plant

Coordinate and verify all receiving activities against purchase orders and packing slips

Track and evaluate supplier performance in terms of quality, delivery, and responsiveness

Monitor contract pricing and market fluctuations to ensure competitiveness

Maintain and update vendor master data, including contact information and vendor surveys as required

Analyze tooling consumption trends using ERP data to control usage and optimize inventory levels

Issue purchase orders for MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) and shop supplies as required

Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 purchasing procedures

Collaborate with overseas sister companies to support bulk procurement of cutting tools and related materials

Establish and maintain min/max levels and safety stock to support uninterrupted production

Continuously monitor and follow up on back orders to ensure on-time delivery

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred

Certifications such as CPIM or SCMP are considered an asset

Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within CAD/CAM/CNC operations

Experience working with ERP systems is an asset

Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, customers, and internal teams

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment
