Job Summary
We are seeking an accomplished, passionate, and dedicated Ballet Instructor to teach a broad range of students, from young children beginning their ballet training through adult dancers at the beginner and elementary levels. In this role, you will lead engaging and structured ballet classes while helping students develop strong classical technique, artistry, musicality, confidence, and a lasting appreciation for dance.
The proposed teaching schedule is as follows:
Tuesday: 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Thursday: 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Classes include performing ballet students ages 5–7, as well as adult beginner and elementary non-performing ballet classes.
Responsibilities
- Lead engaging ballet classes tailored to the age, experience, and ability of each group
- Teach and reinforce proper classical ballet technique, posture, coordination, artistry, and musicality
- Develop structured lesson plans appropriate to each class level
- Provide constructive and encouraging feedback to support student development
- Foster a positive, disciplined, and supportive learning environment
- Prepare performing students for school performances and presentations as required
- Encourage confidence, creativity, musical awareness, and self-expression
- Maintain a safe and professional studio environment
- Collaborate with the school’s artistic and administrative team regarding student progress and classroom needs
Requirements
- Proven experience teaching classical ballet
- Strong understanding of classical ballet technique and training principles
- Experience working with young children, particularly students ages 5–7
- Ability to confidently teach adult beginner and elementary-level ballet students
- Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt instruction to different learning styles, ages, and ability levels
- Dependable, professional, organized, and punctual
- Professional dance and/or performance experience is considered an asset
- Formal ballet training and recognized teaching qualifications are considered an asset
