RWC Counselling & Psychology is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Clinical Director to help lead our team into its next stage of growth.
This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned couples therapist who is passionate about clinical excellence, mentorship, and leadership. You'll play an integral role in supporting our clinicians, ensuring exceptional client care, and helping shape the future of our clinic—all while maintaining your own thriving clinical practice.
This position begins with approximately 5 leadership hours per week and is expected to grow as the clinic expands.

What You'll Be Responsible For
Clinical Leadership
- Provide day-to-day clinical leadership and guidance to the therapist team.
- Offer case consultation and support ethical clinical decision-making.
- Promote evidence-based, trauma-informed, and client-centred care.
- Ensure clinicians practice within their professional scope and regulatory standards.
- Foster a collaborative, supportive, and accountable clinical culture.
Team Leadership & Development
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with clinicians.
- Complete performance reviews and professional development planning.
- Mentor clinicians in developing clinical skills and areas of specialization.
- Address performance concerns in collaboration with the CEO.
- Support clinician well-being, workload management, and burnout prevention.
- Assist with caseload planning and capacity management.
Clinical Operations
- Monitor clinician caseloads, scheduling, and availability.
- Review referrals and support appropriate client-to-clinician matching.
- Oversee waitlists and equitable client distribution.
- Ensure documentation standards and chart compliance are consistently maintained.
- Monitor and improve clinical policies, procedures, and workflows.
- Identify opportunities to improve client experience and clinic efficiency.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Participate in interviewing and hiring new clinicians.
- Lead onboarding and orientation for new team members.
- Provide mentorship during probationary periods.
- Support successful integration into the clinic culture.
- Recommend ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
Quality Assurance
- Maintain high standards of clinical excellence across the practice.
- Monitor client feedback and overall satisfaction.
- Review documentation quality as appropriate.
- Identify trends requiring additional training, supervision, or policy updates.
- Champion continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Leadership & Communication
- Serve as the primary clinical liaison between clinicians and the CEO.
- Lead clinical team meetings.
- Support implementation of new clinic initiatives.
- Identify operational challenges and recommend practical solutions.
- Promote accountability while maintaining a positive, collaborative culture.
Business & Growth Support
- Support client retention through exceptional clinical care.
- Help retain and develop talented clinicians.
- Collaborate with the CEO on strategic planning and clinic growth.
- Assist with implementing new clinical services and programs.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
Qualifications
We're looking for a highly experienced clinician who is ready to lead.
Required Qualifications
- Registered and in good standing with the appropriate professional regulatory body in Alberta. Registered Psychologist, Master of Social Work, Registered Social Worker.
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience providing couples therapy.
- Training in the Gottman Method Level 1 and 2 required. Emotionally Focused Therapy and IFS is an asset.
- Extensive experience working with complex relationship concerns, including conflict, attachment injuries, communication challenges, and infidelity recovery and discernment counselling.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, or clinical supervision experience.
- Strong understanding of ethical practice, documentation, and professional standards in a private practice.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Clinical Expectations
In addition to leadership responsibilities, the successful candidate will:
- Maintain a minimum clinical caseload of 20 client hour availability per week.
- Primarily provide couples therapy while also accepting individual clients where appropriate.
- Be committed to delivering exceptional, evidence-based care that reflects the values of RWC Counselling & Psychology.
