Seasonal: April 1 - November 30, Full-time Hours
Reporting to the Grounds Manager, Grounds staff participate in and maintain company standards for all aspects of cemetery grounds maintenance, flower planting and maintenance, interment, footing, marker setting and various other cemetery related activities.
Responsibilities:
· Prepare sites for placement of sod or grass seed and place sod or grass seed as directed
· Prepare flower beds and garden vases for planting and plant as directed.
· Set markers, excavate and fill footings (concrete).
· Trim and/or cut grass with appropriate machinery and equipment.
· Perform preventative maintenance on machinery.
· Clean, repair and maintain company buildings.
· Participate in interment related activities.
· Understand and abide by all Company policies and procedures, confidentiality guidelines, emergency procedures and health and safety standards.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
· Ontario Secondary School diploma or equivalent, required. Post secondary education an asset.
· Experience in general grounds maintenance, including floral planting, lawn care and equipment maintenance. Prior cemetery experience an asset.
· Ability to learn operation of all equipment but not limited to trucks, and backhoes.
· Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be a team player. Strong customer focus, demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and the ability to multi-task.
Hours of Work:
· Seasonal workers are employed between April and November as their standard work period.
· Hour of work as per the Collective Agreement (including weekend requirements)
· Accountable for assignments being completed to the required standard in the allocated time frame
Conditions of Employment:
· Must possess a valid “G” class drivers license and a clean driving record
· Clear Police Criminal reference check required.
