We are looking for skilled culinary individuals for our resort. Here at Spirit Ridge Resort, we provide a great culinary adventure. This is a place where Indigenous culture and contemporary lifestyle join together in a wide range of exceptional cultural, culinary, and meaningful connections. You will be a part of our culinary team providing an exceptional service to our great many clienteles who come to explore and experience the resorts many on-site dining establishments located in Canada's only desert and award-winning wine region.
Reporting to our Executive Chef, as our 1st Cook, the attention you place into the preparation and execution of our unique menu items will create special moment for our guests.
The primary duty of the 1st Cook is to prepare high quality food to order for guests based on established guidelines, keep work area clean and organized and conduct his or her self in a positive professional manner.
Duties will include:
- Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and culinary procedures
- Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food.
- Assume daily responsibilities according to schedule and business needs.
- Preparation of Outlet, Banquet and any other food requirements.
- Requisitioning of food, beverage and dry goods from the storeroom.
- Check daily food requirements and prepare them accordingly.
- Ensure that refrigerators, freezers, working areas and kitchen are kept clean.
- Inspect kitchen to ensure that equipment is functioning, sanitized and that any maintenance is reported to Kitchen Management.
- Ensure strict control of waste and portion and help to control food quality and cost using standard recipe methods, pictures and maintain low inventory.
- Must never say no to a guest request without offering an alternative.
- Must comply with requests from departmental managers.
- Attend appropriate meetings.
- Assist in planning and costing daily specials.
- On a need bases: sweep, mop, wash down tables and general cleaning to ensure a clean and sanitary work place.
- Assist chefs to manage kitchen operations.
- Other duties as required

Credentials: Safe Food Handling certificate is required. Can be obtained within 3 weeks of commencing employment.

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
