Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Reporting & Analytics, FP&A, the Financial (Data) Analyst – Business Data Analytics is responsible for financial performance analysis of the North American selling channels. Working with large amounts of financial and operational data from multiple data sources, he/she turns complex statistical observations into succinct and clear messaging for senior leadership. The Financial (Data) Analyst proactively identifies performance trends, business insights and solves questions from senior leadership in an objective and timely manner. Additionally, he/she is responsible for providing analysis and insight into day-to-day operations and strategic priorities, through financial modeling, business case support, analytics & reporting.

Key Responsibilities of a Financial (Data) Analyst – Business Data Analytics

  • Perform quantitative analysis of business performance, using SQL, MS Excel, OLAP cubes, Qlik, Power BI and other tools
  • Provide deep dive analyses to explain changes in trend and translate results into actionable insight
  • Leverage quantitative methods to improve accuracy of financial forecasts
  • Perform financial modelling/simulations, sensitivity analysis, hypothesis creation and testing in data models that are easily understood and replicated
  • Create management reporting, presentations, dashboards and business commentary
  • Provide quantitative support and analytical leadership to the North America FP&A team
Skills, Experiences & Educational Requirements

  • 4+ years of Finance / FP&A experience with a focus in advanced quantitative methods.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Statistics, Business Data Analytics, Engineering or a related field
  • MBA, CFA or CPA is an asset.
  • Management Consulting or Investment Banking Analyst experience is an asset.
  • Highly proficient with MS Excel, including pivot tables and complex logic-based formulas. Hyperion, Oracle or large financial planning software knowledge is a plus.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills / can present to functional teams and management.
  • Can distill and summarize large and complex data sets in a simple and concise way and present it clearly without losing sight of the big picture.
  • Able to work with limited direction, can understand and link strategy to the underlying drivers of the business.
  • Extremely organized, thorough and takes pride in quality
  • Strong analytical and problems solving skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize and handle multiples task in a time sensitive manner.
  • Excellent team player as well as the ability to work independently.
