Skilled Labourers Duties & Responsibilities
- Load and unload, organize and inventory materials.
- Work with hand and power tools
- Strong skills in plumbing, carpentry and electrical.
- Measure and cut materials effectively.
- Renovation duties include the demo and reconstruction of commercial buildings.
- Cleaning and preparing work sites,
- Completing required maintenance tasks using a variety of basic craft skills
- Set up and finalize concrete forms for project design
- Assist in the distribution of base materials to grade specifications
- Meet concrete specifications outlined for the project
- Load and unload construction materials
- Construction blueprint knowledge is considered an asset
- Maintain and use knowledge of concrete tools and equipment
- Experience in wood and metal framing, exterior building detailing, window and door installations, decks, and vinyl or Hardie siding installation
- Assist with building and stripping forms.
- Assist and support carpenters, cement finishers, and petroleum mechanics.
- Lead and control housekeeping on work sites
- Effectively take direction and guidance
- Actively participate in morning toolbox and weekly safety meetings
- Good knowledge of construction materials, tools and machinery used.
- Work with or without close supervision.
- Ensure the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment while performing tasks.
- Willingness to actively comply with all safety practices, policies, and procedures.
- Complete other duties as assigned and required.
Position Requirements & Skills
- Commitment to safety and following safe work practices.
- Effective English verbal communication skills
- Willingness to learn.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs and perform manual labour.
- Must be willing to travel and work out of town for extended periods of time when required.
- Must be able to pass drug and alcohol tests.
Qualifications
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean abstract
- A minimum of three years of general commercial construction experience is required.
- Set up and finalize concrete forms for project design
- Assist in the distribution of base materials to grade specifications
- Meet concrete specifications outlined for the project
- Load and unload construction materials
- Construction blueprint knowledge.
- Maintain and use knowledge of concrete tools and equipment
- Commercial construction experience is considered an asset.
- CSTS, fall protection and Elevated work platforms are considered assets.
