Leads and oversees Small Business Banking in Tangerine’s Product Management team ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
The Director is accountable for building out the Small Business strategy and platform at Tangerine. The Director leads the development of the Small Business client journey; Acts as the overall subject matter expert for Small Business product; and ensures the Small Business offering’s integration into Tangerine’s leading digital client experience.
Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Tangerine platforms technology & client experience
Plan, implement and direct all business drivers by leveraging internal and external resources to develop the future strategic direction of Small Business at Tangerine
Drive the execution of the Strategic Plan in partnership with other members of the Small Business team and Tangerine business partners
Direct ongoing analytical reporting which provides Management with key portfolio insights imperative for decision making, and provides actionable sales leads for field officers
Direct and manage the development of business models and client journeys to assess the profitability of new and existing products, features and programs
Partner with Finance, Product, Marketing and Channel teams to develop business cases, financial models, portfolio reporting and analyses that drive recommendations which improve portfolio profitability
Oversees the marketing planning process for Small Business with a focus on building brand awareness and driving Primary Customer growth. Maintains strong partnerships across multiple areas including Marketing Planning, Direct and Digital Marketing and Scotiabank Small Business to ensure the teams are fully aligned with Small Business’s strategy
Accountable for the Small Business operational business activities and results
Lead Product Owner for Small Business
Directing the development of risk optimized policies, procedures and operations for Small Business products
Leading the formation and evolution of Small Business Strategy
Lead the design and delivery of analytical tools and solutions in support of Small Business objectives
Leads the development and execution of key initiatives to drive Primary Customer acquisition and/or retention by partnering with internal stakeholders to build out these initiatives and engaging external partners such as CFIB, Start Up Canada, Rogers & various Professional Associations to promote Tangerine Small Business to their members/customers.
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
MBA and/or professional designation (e.g., CPA, CFA) is an asset
7+ years leadership experience in a lean environment
7+ years in product management experience with an excellent understanding and knowledge of the Small Business segment, including policies and processes, servicing model, distribution channels and products
Expert knowledge and understanding of Small Business Operations, financial laws and
Thorough knowledge of Tangerine & Canadian Banking strategy and business objectives
Thorough knowledge on a wide range of current market delivery systems, new and emerging technologies
Strong organizational skills to coordinate and prioritize a number of concurrent projects
Strong influencing and communication skills to influence all levels of the organization
Solid leadership skills with an ability to identify challenges, recommend options and solutions within specific timeframes
Excellent understanding of the Bank's informal/formal organization structure from both Tangerine head office and Scotiabank perspective
Thorough understanding of internal/external Audit/Compliance systems and procedures
Knowledge of project planning and tracking techniques
In-depth understanding of Branch processes for KYC collection and maintenance.
Expert knowledge of business operations, retail and small business environments including policies and processes
