Position Summary
The successful candidate will join the Technology team as a Software Developer and help the software professionals on this team with the development and maintenance of our mission critical software.

This position reports to the Manager, Technology. Local candidates only. No agencies please.


The Software Developer will:
  • Create software applications, unit tests, integration tests and tools as required and authorized by the Manager, Technology
  • Perform code reviews as required
  • Ensure that software defects are fixed on time and with high quality
  • Follow up with stakeholders and quality assurance personnel regarding software features and defects
  • Follow up with the Manager, Technology, regarding timelines and software development concerns
  • Mentor other team members on software development best practices
  • Create business requirements documents and software requirement specifications documents as required
  • Identify areas of improvement in software development, and implement these improvements once approved
  • Present technical presentations in the areas of quality assurance, software development or technology related to the testing industry
  • Perform technical support and troubleshoot production problems as required
  • Technical:
o Solid knowledge of Microsoft .NET and ASP.NET MVC, including C#
o Solid knowledge of HTML5, CSS, JavasScript, JQuery, AngularJS, XML and JSON
o Good knowledge of source code management
o Solid knowledge of SQL Server, database queries and stored procedures
o Good knowledge of Windows and Linux
o Good knowledge of mobile technologies
  • Academic:
o Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution
o Graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline would be a significant advantage
  • Experience and abilities:
o 3-5 years’ experience working in the software development industry
o Significant experience working alongside software professionals in troubleshooting technical issues
o Experience working with non-technical staff regarding business workflows and requirements in a collaborative manner
o Experience writing detailed software requirements, business workflow documents, software testing documents, and other technical articles and blogs.
o Very strong critical thinking and problem solving skills with careful attention to detail
o Excellent communication skills
o Ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences as required
o Significant experience with agile and scrum development methodologies
  • Other requirements:
o All applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, or have a current permit to work in Canada.
