Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Commercial Underwriter who is fluent in both English and Punjabi to support our Senior Underwriters and the broader underwriting team. This role is focused exclusively on underwriting activities, assisting in the review, evaluation, and processing of commercial insurance policies. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills in both languages, enabling them to efficiently support our diverse client and broker base. This is a non-sales position with no business development responsibilities, allowing you to concentrate fully on underwriting tasks.
Key Responsibilities:

Risk Assessment Support: Assist Senior Underwriters in reviewing commercial insurance applications, financial documents, and risk information to assess coverage needs and determine eligibility.

Underwriting Documentation: Prepare and process underwriting documentation, including quotes, policy endorsements, renewals, and cancellations, ensuring adherence to company guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Data Entry & System Management: Enter underwriting data accurately into internal systems, ensuring all relevant policy details are captured and maintained for ongoing processing.

Policy Issuance & Endorsements: Collaborate with the team to issue new policies and process endorsements, renewals, and amendments, while ensuring all documentation is correct and complete.

File Management & Record Keeping: Maintain organized underwriting files, ensuring all necessary documents and communications are accurately documented and easily accessible for internal review.

Client/Broker Support: Provide administrative support to clients and brokers by answering queries related to policies, underwriting status, and coverage details in both English and Punjabi. Clear communication is essential to ensure accuracy and understanding.

Collaborate with Internal Teams: Work closely with claims, risk management, and actuarial teams to gather data and resolve issues that arise during the underwriting process.

Risk Selection & Analysis: Support Senior Underwriters in reviewing loss history, analyzing risk exposures, and helping to evaluate underwriting guidelines and pricing for various commercial lines (property, liability, workers' compensation, etc.).

Policy Renewals: Assist in the renewal process by reviewing existing policies, making necessary adjustments, and ensuring clients are aware of any changes in coverage or premiums.

General Administrative Support: Provide general administrative assistance to the underwriting team, helping with reports, data analysis, and other tasks as needed to ensure the smooth functioning of the department.
Required Skills & Qualifications:

Fluency in English and Punjabi (both written and spoken) is required to communicate effectively with our diverse client base and brokers.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, or a related field preferred; or equivalent experience.

Experience: At least 1–2 years of experience in commercial underwriting or in an insurance-related administrative role. Exposure to commercial lines such as property, liability, and workers' compensation is beneficial.

Analytical Skills: Strong ability to review and assess complex data, analyze risk, and ensure all underwriting documentation is accurate.

Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy in data entry and document preparation.

Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and familiarity with underwriting or insurance management systems is an advantage.
