Overview:
Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, we are seeking a Payroll & Benefits Administrator to join our Human Resources Department. This is a full-time position and is required to work on site in our Burlington location. The Payroll & Benefits Administrator is responsible for processing a company bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried paid employees (non-union) along with the administration of the company benefits plan.
Objectives of this Role:
- Prepare and administer payroll for salaried (approximately 60 employees) and hourly (approximately 140 employees (non-union).
- Audit payroll related reports for accuracy.
- Reconcile and analyze the payroll registers.
- Investigate and resolve payroll issues.
- Responsible for all year-end functions, including but not limited to T4s, T4As, T2200s, WSIB returns and EHT.
- Liaison with third parties, set up and administer compliance garnishments.
- Prepare monthly remittances and cheque requests for garnishments, WSIB, etc.
- Process all earnings (regular, premiums, vacation pay, allowances, increases, retroactive, adjustments and other special payments) in a timely and accurate manner.
- Calculation and reconciliation of vacation, compensation and sick leave banks and payments.
- Open Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) claims and RRSP remittances.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll and benefits functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Input new hires, rehires and terminations and make any changes regarding employee records (change of address, income taxes, bank account, benefits administration, etc.).
- Generate and process records of employment, income tax forms and remittances.
- Generate and process monthly, quarterly, year-end and ad hoc reports as required.
- Ensure system integrity and work with HR on various projects (such as HRIS workflow, position mapping, etc.).
Payroll Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation is preferred
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation is preferred
- 3 to 5 years’ experience with a preference in a manufacturing environment.
- Experienced and proficient in working with ADP Workforce Now is preferred.
- Must have some finance experience with payroll entries.
- Sound comprehension of statutory deductions, code set up, and group insurance.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office software, particularly Excel.
- Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner.
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of integrity and accuracy along with excellent time management and organizational skills.
Requirements related to Benefits Administration:
As a Benefits Administrator, you will play a crucial role in:
- ensuring the accurate and timely administration of benefits
- communicating benefit information to employees
- maintaining compliance with relevant regulations
- Your attention to detail, strong data analysis skills, and ability to effectively communicate with employees will contribute to the success of our benefits program.
- Respond to all inquiries from employees, Service Canada and other regulatory entitles related to payroll.
- Prepare and distribute employee communications (employment confirmation letters, information and other office duties as assigned).
