SUMMARY:
The CNC Profiler Operator is responsible for the safe and accurate operation of the CNC profiler within the facility fabrication plant. In this role, the profiler operator will directly support pipe spool and vessel fabrication through the cutting of rolled material (2 inches to 48 inches OD) for dimensioned fittings, o-lets, weld neck/collars, etc. This role will include proper set-up and calibration, setting of tolerance levels and cutting speeds, and overall operation of the CNC profiler, as well as inspection of workflows to ensure technical and quality standards are met. Ability to translate and verify vessel and pipe isometric drawings to program is critical. Daily machining will be managed through production order release from the Production Planner. This individual must be willing and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment; ability to develop a workplan to efficiently carry out daily machining is a must. Executes position with a continuous improvement mindset and emphasis on maintaining workspace appearance and organization.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Handling of raw fabrication materials to include lengths of pipe and rolled shell (3 inches to 48 inches OD) in varying metallurgies (Carbon Steel, Low Temp Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel).
Inspection of material before placing on profiler to ensure material is free from damage; verification of heat numbers from material to supporting documentation.
Prepare and operate profiler machine to cut pipe and vessel shells.
Verify vessel fabrication drawing to match program; verify spool isometric drawing to match program.
Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function.
Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts.
Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.
Inspect and measure finished products to ensure technical and quality standards are met.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspection, maintenance, and calibration of profile machine to ensure accurate outputs according to specifications.
Conveying confirmation and timeliness of production order fulfillment.
Collaborating with internal and external customers to verify priorities, locate missing material, fix incorrect deliveries, and replace damaged material.
Area of work will remain clean and orderly, aligning with our 6S program.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of two years’ previous working experience as a CNC profiler operator; direct experience in pipe and vessel fabrication is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings; must be familiar with pipe (spool) isometric drawings and pressure vessel drawings.
Candidate must have experience with power tools, pneumatic tools, band saws, plasma cutter, and overhead cranes. Must be able to read a standard tape measure and precision measurement tools.
Physically fit with the ability to lift objects weighing 50 pounds.
Excellent time management, organizational and computer skills; basic understanding of computer programming is a plus.
