Join our team as a Used Trailer Sales Manager, where you'll play a crucial role in overseeing our nationwide used trailer operations from our Winnipeg Headquarters. In this position, you'll support and advise sales representatives and branch managers, manage used trailer inventory, and ensure all units are prepared for resale. You'll promote sales through market analysis and coordinating strategic advertising while providing essential sales support and contributing to annual business planning and budgeting. Responsibilities:
- Support and advise sales representatives and branch managers nationwide.
- Communicates with Account Managers for updates, creates trade-in and resale values for Account Managers on physical appraisals, assigns pre-trade inspections and decides if the unit will be retail/wholesale or will go to an auction.
- Manages used trailer inventory; Oversees and approves retail sales, sells wholesale units, and purchases of all used trailers including surplus Leasing and Rental units.
- Ensures all used trailers are prepped for resale by reviewing trailer appraisal sheet, arranging internal or sublet repairs/service including any safety repairs and following up on work in progress.
- Promotes sale of used trailers and collects market trend information, attending auctions, maintaining relationships with industry contacts, coordinating advertising, and organizing contest promotions for Accounts Managers. Determines the distribution of unit inventory and the most cost/time effective way for transporting.
- Provides used trailer sales support by assisting with conditions, locations, sales contract details, making sales calls with Sales Representatives, sourcing specialized trailers and responding to customer complaints.
- Assists in formulating the annual business plan, budgets, and productivity measures by location/product from information provided by sales force.
- Infrequent travel as needed, primarily to other Maxim Branches
What you need to succeed in this role:
- Minimum 3 years in the heavy-duty truck/trailer or a related industry; 5 or more years’ experience is preferred
- Knowledge or experience of wholesale, retail, and auction systems
- Knowledge or experience with inventory management
- Driven to succeed attitude with a proven sales track record and ability to motivate others towards sales completion.
- Prior management experience (e.g. creating budgets, developing standards, etc.)
- Organized, sets priorities, meets deadlines
- Negotiates well and builds relationships with co-workers and customers
- Ability to communicate effectively with varying levels of people
- Proficient with computers – Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work with interruptions\
- Availability for occasional out of the province travel
- Mechanical aptitude is an asset
- Business Administration degree or diploma is an asset
- Fleet management experience is an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s license & passport
