Control Officer, WEHC

Position: Emergency Casual
Job Summary: Under the general direction of Youth Justice Services, the Control Officer is responsible to provide central control module and security services in accordance with policies and directives established within the Bureau.
§ Provide unit coverage on a rotational shift basis ensuring the safety and security of staff, clients and physical plant.
§ Operate controls and ensure security of building.
§ Monitor movement/admission of all staff, residents and visitors.
§ Respond to Emergency alarms and notify/access appropriate resources
§ Monitor security panel and maintain logs pertaining to maintenance.
§ Keep up to date security records.
§ Follow procedures and instructions in a precise manner and respond appropriately and calmly in emergency situations.
§ Receive and screen visitors and callers in a professional manner while meeting the security needs of the Centre.
§ Attend and participate in supervision
§ Participate in on-going training as required
§ Follows safe work practices as established by the Bureau and the program.

§ College diploma or university degree in Law & Security, Police Foundations.
§ Knowledge of computerized security systems.
§ One year related experience.
§ Ability to work autonomously and as an effective team member.
§ Proven written and verbal communication skills.
§ Fluency English essential
§ Fluency in French will be considered an asset.
