We are located 20 minutes outside the east gates of Jasper National Park. Position Overview
This two-year role is designed to prepare you for a Senior Biologist position, providing hands-on experience in environmental project management. Primary responsibilities include supporting Senior Biologists with aquatic assessments, managing field teams, tracking budgets, and contributing to reporting. Fieldwork will be required, particularly in your first year, and you will gain leadership experience by mentoring seasonal staff. This role is expected to evolve into a long-term position based on performance.
Anticipated Trajectory and Primary Responsibilities
Year 1:
- The first year will focus on on-boarding, training, and working closely with the Senior Biologist.
- The Biologist will be in the field 50% during the field season (May-November).
- The Biologist will take on the leadership position for seasonal crews.
- The position will include supervised project management and reporting under close guidance of the senior team.
- Priority tasks: Field work, crew management, supervised project management, reporting.
Year 2:
- The second year is expected to come with increased independence for field work, reporting, project management, crew supervision and scheduling, and seasonal staff training.
- Field work will still be expected during the field season, however primarily focused on client interactions, quality assurance, pre- or post-construction meetings, or problem-solving challenging projects.
- Priority tasks: Independent project management, reporting, crew supervision and training.
Experience and Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field
- Minimum two years in an environmental or related field (e.g., forestry, geology, resource management)
- Must have at least one season of field experience, or equivalent (e.g., extensive personal use of trucks, ATVs, hiking, and camping)
- Eligible for Professional Biologist status within 2 years
- A high-level of computer proficiency is required
- Must be confident in personal ability to independently motivate and learn new skills
- Must have a driver’s license with clean driving history

- Other relevant experience in fields such as wetlands, wildlife, aquatics, birds, field-related study design development and execution, regulatory requirements, forestry, pipelines, environmental consulting, crew supervision
