We are currently seeking an entry-level Product Finisher – Level 1 to join our Product Finishing department. This position is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
Position Summary
The Product Finisher – Level 1 is responsible for cleaning graphite molds and finishing metal-bond drilling and grinding tools in preparation for delivery to customers. This role involves the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, belt sanders, water-jet equipment, and spray-painting processes.
The successful candidate will support production by helping ensure that products are properly cleaned, finished, identified, and documented in accordance with company quality and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean graphite molds and prepare them for reuse in production.
- Gauge and size semi-finished drill bits using belt sanders and other pneumatic hand tools.
- Remove excess metal and graphite from semi-finished metal-bond drilling and grinding tools using water-jet equipment.
- Spray paint finished drilling and grinding tools.
- Maintain product serial number traceability throughout the finishing process.
- Maintain the work area according to continuous improvement guidelines.
- Complete required information on work order packages accurately.
- Follow company Safe Work Procedures and Workplace Safety and Health requirements.
- Support product quality by ensuring finished products conform to requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma.
- 0–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Physical ability to lift and push loads of up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Mechanically inclined with strong attention to detail.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work in a dusty and noisy manufacturing environment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Must currently reside in Winnipeg, Manitoba, or be able to reliably commute to Dimatec’s Winnipeg facility.
- Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of the above qualifications.
Skills and Competencies
- Familiarity with general manufacturing or production practices.
- Knowledge of weighing tools, gauges, measuring devices, hand tools, power tools, and production equipment is considered an asset.
- Ability to learn new tasks, tools, and processes quickly.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions.
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Flexible team player with a positive attitude.
- Commitment to workplace safety, product quality, and continuous improvement.
