Purpose:
The purpose is to provide administrative, financial, and secretarial support as well as customer service to the Accounting Departments faculty, staff, students, and the general public. The position is an information resource and is the first point of contact for the department, fielding queries regarding department programs and courses. The incumbent is responsible for the majority of the course-related duties for the area providing both secretarial and administrative support. This position monitors and reconciles PEA and research accounts, prepares financial and payroll documents, and website support to the Director of the CPA Ontario Centre in Digital Financial Information.
Education:
High School graduation with secretarial/administrative training or the equivalent.
Experience:
Two (2) years' directly related and recent experience preferably in a post-secondary environment (i.e., providing course work support, preparing/processing financial and payroll documents, assembling information, coordinating activities such as workshops, seminars, proctors and graders, maintaining files, liaising with a variety of contacts, customer service, organizing events/meetings). Including experience in a high-volume academic department supporting faculty and students, (e.g., administrative support, course administration support, exams), handling high volume in-person inquiries such as relaying policies and procedures, and monitoring and reconciling faculty research accounts required.
Skills:
Accurate keyboarding skills, Intermediate to advanced MS Word and MS Excel skills, Basic PowerPoint, Basic Access, website search skills, ability to use Canvas, Zoom, SIS, and WordPress. Excellent communication skills (oral and written), ability to deal courteously and effectively with people, obtaining and providing information in a clear and concise manner, attending accurately to detail, effective interpersonal skills, good judgement, excellent tact, diplomacy, and initiative required, ability to work effectively and efficiently in a high volume environment, including ability to multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines, excellent organizational skills, maintaining files and records, monitoring and reconciling multiple faculty research accounts, maintaining confidentiality, ability to work independently and as part of a team, excellent customer service skills.
