About the Client:
We're seeking a compassionate overnight caregiver for a woman recovering from a partial hip replacement surgery performed on June 28th. She is currently staying with family in Trent while receiving rehabilitation support. Following her surgery, she experienced adjustment disorder and had difficulty in a rehabilitation facility environment, leading to an expedited discharge to her family's home where she is more comfortable. She is making good progress with walking and standing but requires supervision and is not yet independent. She uses a walker or wheelchair for mobility and needs assistance with bathing, dressing, and personal care at the sink. She currently receives hospital-funded PSW visits twice daily (morning and evening) and weekly physiotherapy visits, but overnight supervision is needed to fill a critical gap in her care plan.
Responsibilities:
- Provide overnight supervision and safety monitoring from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning
- Assist with bathroom visits and transfers during the night as needed
- Support with personal care including washing up at the sink in the early morning
- Help with mobility assistance using walker or wheelchair
- Prepare meals or light meal prep as needed
- Perform light tidying to maintain a clean environment
- Provide companionship and emotional support during recovery
- Communicate clearly with family about any concerns or changes in condition
- Coordinate seamlessly with existing PSW and physiotherapy schedules
What We're Looking For:
- Experience with post-surgical care and hip replacement recovery
- Skilled in mobility assistance with walkers and wheelchairs
- Comfortable providing personal care including bathing and dressing support
- Patient, calm demeanor with ability to provide emotional reassurance
- Reliable and consistent with strong communication skills
- Takes initiative and anticipates needs
- English speaking
- Occasionally available to provide transportation for errands or appointments
- Makes clients feel comfortable and brings positive energy
- Respects client independence while ensuring safety
Schedule:
Consistent weekly overnight shift every Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Specific hours to be confirmed but approximately 8-10 hours (example: 9 PM Wednesday to 6 AM Thursday or 10 PM to 8 AM). Please note there will be one week off after the first two weeks of care, then resuming the regular Wednesday night schedule. Daytime care on Wednesday and Thursday is covered by existing hospital-funded PSWs.
