Situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.
Kamloops is a city of 90,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. About The Role

Position Reports To: Senior Payroll & Benefits Specialist
Position Overview
The Payroll and Administration Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support required to meet the goals of the Payroll, Human Resources, Community and Communication functions.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain a professional relationship between site employees, site leadership and departments by ensuring a sense of confidentiality, mutual trust, respect and teamwork
Provide guidance to employees and department leadership teams regarding department policies
Support onboarding of new employees to the organization’s culture and processes
Complete payroll audits
Assist the Senior Payroll and Benefits Specialist to run Payroll actions and assist with Benefits administration
Be the back-up to all Payroll and Benefits functions
Prepare source documents and conduct walkthroughs to fulfill internal and external audits adhering to controls requirements
Respond to employee inquiries and to external parties (Service Canada, WorkSafeBC, etc.)
Prepare payroll related month end accounting entries
Create Purchase requisitions and manage receiving of invoices
Order and manage inventory of promotional products
Record meeting minutes for select meetings and committees
Assist the HR team in maintaining service awards and recognition programs
Support the strong team environment across the organization through collaboration, exceptional customer service and proactive problem-solving
Other activities as needed to support the HR, Community and Communications Team and New Afton site
Qualifications
Post secondary education in Business Administration
Valid Driver's License
Minimum one year of Accounting or Payroll, or Administrative experience
A well developed communicator and able to operate effectively and professionally within the organization
Highly ethical and able to deal with confidential issues with tact and discretion
Able to demonstrate organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple tasks in an environment with competing demands and deadlines
Able to demonstrate strong skills in Microsoft Office specifically Excel, SharePoint and Outlook.
Previous experience using SAP or SuccessFactors.
Other Requirements
Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:
Completion of pre-placement functional screen
Provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver’s license
Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements
Compensation
The anticipated salary for this position will be between $60,000 to $70,000. A comprehensive benefits program and performance bonus plan will also be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
