Summary of Position
Cadre’s Transit division offers our clients technical rail service solutions including commissioning and testing of new transit vehicles, warranty repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspection services. Our employees work with the leading Ontario transit suppliers and agencies, ensuring their equipment is available to provide reliable on time service to their passengers in some of North America’s largest transit systems.
Reporting directly to the client, the Technical Writer will be responsible for developing Standard Operating Procedures utilized by their Maintenance Department to support the maintenance, operation and systems for Low Floor Light Rail Vehicles (LFLRVs) and overall Transit System being delivered to a regional transit agency operating in the GTA.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist with the development of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documentation for train operations, maintenance, system and facility operations including related Failure Management Systems

Document and format procedures based on attending training sessions and technical meetings between all applicable agencies and stakeholders

Assist with the writing of supporting procedures as supplier system information becomes available

Develop and manage the work processes, forms, work schedules and document control on SharePoint

Assist with the development of O&M Manuals where applicable following O&M specifications and agreed quality standards

Managing document and records for project document controls

Perform other duties as required in support of the provision of documentation to meet the client’s contractual obligations based on deliverable timelines
Requirements
- Proficiency in Technical Writing Skills applied within an industry with a strong emphasis on process control

Mass Transit or Rolling Stock experience would be considered a strong asset

Maintenance or Operations experience in a technical environment would be considered a strong asset

Ability to assimilate based on the needs of the client including expected document detail to meet project timelines

Post-secondary graduate with effective writing skills, communication skills and computer skills

Proficiency in the use of MS Office products such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

Familiar with SharePoint software of similar products

Proactive, resourceful and hands-on with good initiative

Must be organized, efficient and accurate; able to verify own work and meet regular deadlines
